How to make Guacamole – Easy Recipe for Beginners
Creamy, chunky, zesty, fresh—guac is a 10-minute wonder that turns any sad chip into a fiesta.
You only need a few good ingredients, a fork, and an avocado that isn’t trying to ruin your day.
Ingredients (Serves 2–3)
Ripe avocado – 1 large (about 150g flesh)
Lime juice – 1 tablespoon (15ml)
Red onion – 30g, finely diced
Tomato – 50g, deseeded and chopped
Cilantro (optional) – 1 tablespoon, chopped
Salt – ½ teaspoon
Black pepper – a few cracks
Optional add-ins – minced garlic, chili flakes, or diced jalapeño (if you like heat)
Instructions
1. Cut & scoop (2 minutes)
Slice avocado in half, remove pit, and scoop flesh into a bowl.
2. Mash it (1 minute)
Use a fork to mash. Go smooth or chunky—your call.
3. Add the good stuff (2–3 minutes)
Mix in 30g diced red onion, 50g chopped tomato, 15ml lime juice, cilantro (if using), ½ tsp salt, and a pinch of black pepper.
Taste and adjust seasoning. Want heat? Toss in chili or jalapeño.
4. Serve (immediately!)
Guac waits for no one. Serve with chips, on toast, tacos, or just… a spoon.
Pro Tip
Put the avocado pit in the bowl to help keep it from browning, or cover with plastic wrap directly touching the guac.
